There are two champagnes - the Piper-Heidsieck is an impressive addition to the table and the honeyed Mumm is medium dry and perfect to serve with wedding cake or as an after-dinner toast. The sparkling wines are brilliant both as apritifs and for a toast and are excellent alternatives to champagne for a little less money. We have chosen eight premium wines that are all brilliant with food. There are four French wines - two whites and two reds - that will make excellent dinner wines.
